Other Information: Built by dry goods dealer James McCreery, but leased to Baumann Brothers, dealers in furniture and carpets. D. & J. Jardine was among the most creative architectural firms active in the post-Civil War era. Other notable cast-iron buildings by the firm are 28 Howard Street (see), the old B. Altman's store on Sixth Avenue, and the Thomas Twins, on Broadway and Thomas Street. Baumann Brothers Furniture and Carpets Store is a particularly inventive facade influenced by Aesthetic Movement design. | ||
